FROM MY CREATIVE SANDBOX

WHERE'S WALDO

For a class task, I had to recreate a children’s book using code and I chose Waldo because of how timeless and fun it is. In the physical book, though, once you’ve found Waldo, the mystery is over — that page is “completed” forever.

Here, Waldo is never done hiding. Each time you restart the game, he sneaks off to a brand-new spot on the beach, blending in among the crowd, the boats, and the chaos of summer. The same scene becomes endlessly replayable, giving you a new challenge every single time.

This was also my first ever exploration with coding so while there’s plenty of scope for betterment, the project really helped me enjoy the process.

It’s part nostalgia, part playful experiment, and part personal milestone: a way of taking something we all know from childhood and reimagining it with generative art and interaction. Instead of just looking at a book, you get to play with it — and Waldo will keep you guessing forever.
